Enrichment and Conflict Between Work and Health Behaviors: New Scales for Assessing How Work Relates to Physical Exercise and Healthy Eating

Abstract Studies suggest a mutual influence between work and health behaviors (physical exercise, healthy eating). To advance research on this phenomenon, we developed validated short scales that capture enrichment conflict experiences behaviors. Building the work-family literature, items assessing (1) physical exercise (2) eating. In Study 1, examined construct validity of new scales, using confirmatory factor analysis. 2, refined items, relying expert ratings. 3, tested revised measures their nomological net. We replicated structure across 1 3. Analysis net showed mainly correlate with job rewards, organizational behavior climate, high identity, healthy-eater behavior, consumption fruits vegetables, low body mass index (BMI). Conflict amount effort invested into work, no or limited less vegetables.
